またしてもかすかなアタリがやってきた。弱いプレッシャーを保ちながらサーモンをフッキングへと誘う。

Again Ken got a gentle touch. Keeping a faint pressure to the salmon.

　
ひとまずフックアップに成功。しかしまだ安心できない。

Ken hooked the salmon up tentatively, but it was not perfect for him.

　

フッキングを確実にするために、まず岸に上がってサーモンを対岸に向けて走らせる。

For making sure of hooking, Ken steped up to the bank to make the salmon run toward the otherside.

　

作戦通り勢いよく走って、流心でジャンプしたサーモン。

As expected, the salmon ran into the fast current and jumped. Ken certainly hooked the salmon.

　
ようやくファイト開始。

Finally Ken started fighting.

　
今度は思いっきりプレッシャーをかけてサーモンを走らせる。

Ken tightened the line to make the salmon run more and more.

　
下流に一気に走ってジャンプするサーモン。

The salmon ran downstream at a dash and jumped.

　
そのままサーモンは下流に突進し、あっという間にフラットビームを100m引き出した。

100m Flat Beam in Ken's spool was already out. The line was still pulled by the salmon running.

　
更にサーモンは走り、およそ150m下流へ。下流に走ったサーモンを真上から引き寄せるために、再度川に入る。よほどのことがない限り、サーモンと一緒に河原を下ることはない。

The salmon was 150m downstream. Ken steped into the river again to pull up the salmon straight from his position. He never choiced and walked down the river with his salmon.

　
かなりの速度でリールを巻く。150mを一気に巻くのは結構大変だ。「まだ100mもある！」

Ken wound the reel without a break. "The fish is still 100m downstream."

　

やっと足下まで寄ってきたが、サーモンはなおも抵抗を続ける。いよいよ最後の詰め。岸に上がってサイドからプレッシャーをかける。

Finally Ken pulled the salmon to the bank. But the salmon was still strong. He steped up the bank again to give the pressure to the salmon from it's side.
　 　

力尽きて浮上したサーモン。真っ白なフレッシュの魚体が浮き上がる。

The salmon came to the surface.
　 　
そのままネットへ。

Mary Anne was waiting for the fish coming into her net.
　 　
フックはサーモンの口奥深くにがっちりかかっていた。ソフトなアタリも時間をかけてじっくりフッキングするとこの通り。フックはST3#4。もちろんフリーフックで使用。

The hook ST3 #4 was in the mouth of the fish deeply. The hooking was very successful.
　 　

フライはオレンジフレーム1-1/2"。雨の多いガウラでは抜群の威力を発揮する。

The fly was Orange Flame 1-1/2" plastic tube. This fly is very effective in the Gaula when it's water is brown because of a lot of rain.
　 　
9kgくらいと思ったが、計ってみたら10.7kg。今年のサーモンは長さの割にやや太め。

Ken thought its weight was 9kg, but was 10.7kg.
