ブリッジプールの12キロを釣ってから４日間、雨が降らない。見る見るうちに川は減水の一途をたどり、日中はドピーカンと、最悪が続く。水温は渇水なのに７度と冷たく。魚の活性は低い。
After catching a beautiful 12kg at Bridge Pool, fine
weather continued for 4 days. The river was getting
smaller and smaller. |

日中は晴れるが、夜が冷え込み、水温を下げる。雨を待つか、水温が上がるのを待つか。持久戦だ。とにかく、食わない。
But salmon never took a fly. We thought many reasons
why salmon did not want to have any flies. The water
temperature was 7degsC to 10degsC, because air was still
cold in the night. |

ひたひたになったプール。ドピーカンが続いたせいか、ガウラ上流部に雷雲が発生し、雨がふっているもようだ。
The pool became like a pond. But in the upstream of the river,
there was a thundershower because of heating.

上流の雷雨のおかげで水位が20センチほど上がり、水温が12度に。久々にサーモンがフックに触ったが、リールがちょっと鳴った程度で止めてしまった。オレンジフレームを取り出し、再挑戦。
The water level was 20cm up and the water temperature
was 12degsC. After a long time, Ken touched the salmon
at the bottom of the pool, but could not hook it
up. Then he choiced Orange Flame.

大粒の雨。このまま一晩降れば川が増水するかもしれない。
The rain was beating on the surface. We hoped it would
be rainning whole night for nice big water tomorrow. |

相変わらず食いは悪かったが、長いプールの最後の最後、最後の一投で、下のプールから今到着したばかりのサーモンをフッキング。
Though he fished this pool from the top to the bottom,
he did not have any touch. But finally he hooked
one salmon on his last cast at the very very bottom
of the pool. |

サーモンに下られないよう、弱いプレッシャーを保ちながらプールの中程へと向かう。
As usual, Ken pulled the salmon gently upstream toward
the middle of the pool. |
|

安心できるところまで来たらファイト開始。今回の魚はそれほど大きくないのでプールの下流でファイトを決め込む。
Ken started fighting with the fish. This fish was
not so big, Ken thought. |

ファイト開始直後、勢いよくラインが引き出され、リールが高速で逆回転。
The salmon run so fast and pulled the line powerfully
enough.

サーモンは対岸の流心めがけて一気に走った。
The salmon run toward the oppsite side. |
|
|
 |
対岸すれすれにサーモンの飛沫。対岸に沈む大石にラインが巻かれないよう、ロッドを操作。
The salmon jumped at very close to the oppsite bank. |

減水した川に合わせて使ったロッドはSS1712Dミレニアムグリーン。
Ken used SS1712D Millennium Green rod for these low
water condition. This rod is limited version of SS1712D
and has a little bit slow action.

ようやく足下まで寄せてきた。油断せずに岸に上がる。
The salmon became gently. |

ハンドランディングでも十分だったが、久々の一匹にわざわざネットをつかってランディング。対岸で見ていたギャラリーに万歳。
Ken required the net for landing the salmon safely,
because it was the valuable one after those slow
days. |

オレンジフレームにはST3#6をフリーフックで使用。もちろんフッキングは万全。
The salmon was perfectly hooked.

 |
「7.5kg。」「８kgくらいかな・・・。」計測結果もぴったり８キロでした。６月で最も小さいサイズ。
He said "7.5kg or 8kg..." It was just 8kg, the smallest
one among Ken's catches in this June. |
